Another beautiful evening of networking for the St. Charles Chamber Women’s Business Council took place on Thursday July 28, in the lovely Waterfront Room overlooking the Fox River at Historic Hotel Baker. Over 50 guests were treated to a delicious menu prepared by Hotel Baker & Rox City Grill Executive Chef David Hassan which included made to order crab cakes, avocado spring rolls, beef tenderloin sliders, and homemade hummus and pita. And we cannot forget about the hundreds of decadent miniature desserts that were definitely enjoyed by all!

July is National Ice Cream Month

Enjoying Pistachio Ice Cream in honor of National Ice Cream Month!
For those who know me, it is no surprise that July is my favorite month. Not only is it one of our busiest wedding months but it is also National Ice Cream month…my favorite summertime (or wintertime for that matter) treat!
So for our brides looking for a unique dessert instead of the standard sweet table, why not have your caterer create a sundae or gelato bar at your wedding reception. You can tie in the flavors of ice cream and toppings into your wedding color scheme. Chocolate Brown & Pink or Green have become popular wedding colors which is perfect for 3 of my favorite flavors of ice cream: Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio!
The toppings are where you could really go crazy and wow your guests. Certainly you will need the basics like hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream, and cherries. From there, indulge your own sweet tooth fantasies! Chunks of Oreos or chocolate chip cookies make tasty toppings, as do chunks of brownies. There are many delicious candies which are perfect for including in your sundae bar, such as M&Ms (maybe in your wedding colors), sprinkles, Reeses Pieces (perfect colors for a Fall wedding theme), toffee crumbles, and peanut butter cup pieces. The possibilities are endless!
If you live in a big city with a Food Truck presence, having an Ice Cream Truck pull up outside your venue at the end of the night is sure to be a sweet surprise for your guests. Imagine having an old fashioned Good Humor Truck at your reception…the memories that brings back makes me smile.
So enjoy National Ice Cream Month and let your imagination run wild when including this delicious treat for guests young and old at your unforgettable wedding reception.
