Hotel Baker Pretty in Pink!

Pretty in Pink at Hotel Baker's Rainbow Room

Our team at Something 2 Dance 2 & Elegant Event Lighting were “tickled pink” to be a part of Samone & James July 14, wedding at the beautiful Hotel Baker in St. Charles.  When I first met Samone & James and their family I knew this wedding was going to be special and unforgettable. There was so much love between them.   Samone & James had a clear vision of their wedding day adding many personal touches, including being married by her Uncle Clinton under a beautiful canopy complete with a crystal chandelier designed by Elegant Event Lighting and adorned with gorgeous pink flowers from Anton and his team at Town & Country Gardens.

James & Samone's beautiful Ceremony at Hotel Baker

Samone continued her pink theme throughout the wedding with the most amazing pink chair covers, light pink uplighting, gorgeous pink bridesmaid dresses, and an all pink candy buffet!

Samone & James’ magical evening was captured by Just Love Me Photography who also created the most amazing table photos of Samone & James at beautiful locations throughout the city.  My favorite is their engagement photo in front of the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles where owner Ron Onesti posted on the marquee “Save The Date” 7-14-2012, in honor of their special day!

Thank you Samone & James for sharing your special day with us!  And a huge thank you to Hotel BakerTown & Country GardensElegant Event Lighting, and Just Love Me Photography who were the absolute dream team!

A Weekend of Wedding Lanterns!

Beautiful paper lanterns, draping and ivory dance floor at Drury Lane Oak Brook

Our weekend was filled with lanterns…over 200 and it couldn’t have been more amazing! What a unique and dramatic effect lanterns of all shapes and sizes can have on your wedding.

Our team at Elegant Event Lighting created 2 beautiful venue transformations this past weekend using hanging lanterns.

At Drury Lane Oak Brook our team transformed both the Ceremony space and the main ballroom utilizing the bride’s color palette of ivory and coral. Steve and his team from Phillips Flowers brought in hot pink rose petals to cover the ceremony aisle runner and gorgeous centerpieces throughout the ballroom to complete the look.

Elegant Event Lighting and Phillips Flowers helped create this dramatic Ceremony space.

We hung 200 paper lanterns above the gorgeous ivory dance floor that our team provided along with a dramatic coral border.  Wow!! Upon entering the ballroom you felt so much warmth and drama which truly reflected the vision our bride and her family wanted to create.

Next stop was The Ivy Room in Chicago…a gorgeous, historic loft space downtown.  Our bride Ashley envisioned outdoor lanterns floating thorughout the room above each table and the dance floor.  To bring in the “Ivy” theme, we provided pattern projections of ivy and leaves along with amber uplighting around the perimeter of the space.  We also created a beautiful drape as an entryway to their photobooth.

July is National Ice Cream Month!

Enjoying a frozen custard concrete at Shake Shack in NYC!

July is one of my favorite months of the year!  It is National Ice Cream Month which gives me even more reason to visit my favorite ice cream and gelato shops!  And a great way to beat the heat for those July weddings is to include this delicious treat on your menu.

There are so many options out there to choose from.  How about hiring an ice cream truck at the end of the night to provide classic treats to your guests like ice cream sandwiches, fudgesicles, and chocolate covered ice cream bars.

How fun would it be to have an Ice Cream Truck at your Wedding!

Or maybe you want your guests to get interactive?  A create your own ice cream or gelato bar would be a fun addition to your reception.  Include toppings like caramel, hot fudge, strawberries, cookies, peanut butter cups, toffee pieces…the sky is the limit!

What about hiring a chef to make fresh ice cream on the spot for your guests using liquid nitrogen?  It’s inventive, creative and super creamy.  Polonia Catering in Chicago is one of the best I have tried and they even have the option for a custom mix-in bar…similar to a blizzard or concrete.  Your guests will love it!

My favorite spots include:  All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva for gelato, Homer’s Ice Cream in Wilmette for old fashioned home made ice cream, Shake Shack in NYC for the best frozen custard concretes and Niche in Geneva for fancy ice cream desserts.

I hope I have inspired you to celebrate National Ice Cream Month.  And remember, every day is a perfect day to visit your favorite local ice cream or gelato shop!
