Andrew's Garden Floral Centerpieces at the beautiful Chicago Marriott Naperville
Our monthly ABC meeting took place on April 10, at the brand new Chicago Marriott Naperville. Director of Catering Melissa Kross & Catering Sales Manager Kelly Turner, rolled out the red carpet for our group for a wonderful evening of networking, food and of course a tour of this gorgeous hotel. The hotel is chic and modern in a “Mad Men” sort of way and is the perfect venue for weddings, corporate events and cocktail parties. Our group enjoyed a delicious meal of surf and turf followed by individual wedding cakes created by their pastry chef. Tables were decorated with unique floral centerpieces from Andrew’s Garden. The evening was most enjoyed having dinner with fabulous wedding coordinators such as Karolina Warren, Robyn Bruns of Red Letter Event Planning, Sharon McCool of MS Weddings and Events and Diane Mollis of Dream Filled Weddings.
And a very special thank you to our newly appointed ABC Coordinator Jane Skarosi, for allowing us to have a first look of this great hotel.

“I Do” Chicago Ties the Knot Exhibit

Wedding Gown Exhibit at Chicago History Museum
Our Chicago chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), took a field trip on Tuesday afternoon to visit the Chicago History Museum’s amazing wedding gown exhibit “I Do!” Chicago Ties the Knot. I would highly recommend this exhibit for any bride, mother of the bride, or bridesmaid as it traces the history of wedding gowns from the 1800′s-2009, and let me tell you, these gowns have been preserved beautifully. Each gown has a “story” behind it which is so interesting and most of the stories share Chicago history. I was surprised to see how many gowns throughout the exhibit were colors other than white. One gown was bright orange and another gown was green! One of my favorites was from 1880, made of silk, satin and glass beads…the construction of the gown was so beautiful..even Tim Gunn would be proud! For anyone who loves weddings, this is an exhibit not to be missed. It continues through January 3, 2011, just long enough for all of our brides who become engaged over the winter holidays!

Our April Association of Bridal Consultants meeting was held at the beautiful Bartlett Hills Golf Club hosted by vendor member Mary Gearhart. Our speaker for the evening was Master Wedding Vendor, Kris Malandruccolo, owner of Elegant Videos by Kris. Kris put together a wonderful presentation on ”The Power of Video” to help better serve today’s tech savvy Brides & Grooms. Kris shared with us how important video is to preserve and capture memories and emotions to be shared with future generations for years to come. In a recent survey conducted by Breakthrough Marketing 98% of newlyweds recommend that Brides have their wedding videotaped. She also shared with us some new and innovative video concepts including Love Story Video, “movie” concept videos and even an MTV Style video of the bride in her wedding dress!
When hiring a Videographer for your Wedding make sure he or she is a member of a trade organization such as WEVA (The Wedding and Event Videographers Association), to ensure you are hiring a dedicated professional who will document and preserve your memories.

ABC Vendor Showcase & Wish Upon a Wedding

Helping Make Wedding Dreams Come True!
A huge thank you to Melissa Phillips of Simply Perfect by Melissa and Judy Alden, our Illinois ABC Coordinator for putting on an amazing event at Sutton Place Hotel in Chicago. As proud ABC Vendor Members, Jay & I were given the opportunity to showcase our Lighting and Decor division of Something 2 Dance 2 to Wedding Consultants in the Chicago area along with over 25 Chicago based Wedding Professionals. And thank you to the fabulous Jennifer Mordini, for capturing the evening with your Photography.
We had the opportunity to meet wonderful vendors and wedding planners who are committed to making their clients dreams come true on their wedding day. And speaking of dreams…we also learned about an amazing organization Wish Upon A Wedding, America’s only wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon A Wedding produces weddings & civil union ceremonies at destinations across the United States for individuals facing life-threatening illness. By celebrating the courage & spirit of these couples, it is their hope that others facing similar situations will find hope, strength, and the promise of eternal love.
Our very own Melissa Phillips, is involved in this organization and is looking for Professional Wedding vendors to be a part of it as well. She had a huge response last night from our ABC members, and we are looking forward to attending the Chicago Chapter Kick-Off Party on March 24, at Ravenswood Event Center in Chicago .
