Think Pink for Summer Weddings!
Posted by Tamara Sims | Filed under News and Updates, Wedding Reception Ideas, Wedding Resources, Wedding Venues
It’s summer wedding season and I cannot think of a better color to celebrate the season than pink. So many of our brides have adorned there bridesmaids, flowers and tables in these beautiful hues…from watermelon and raspberry to fuschia and rose, Pink is one HOT wedding color!
I thought it would be fun to share some beautiful pink floral designs from a recent event we did at the historic Hotel Baker in St. Charles. Floral Designer Casey Murdough owner of The Elegant Petal enhanced her table with vibrant purple roses, baby pink hydrangeas and a luxurious raspberry table runner with matching chair covers to complete the look. Jennie Polloway with Elizabeth Wray Design also took inspiration from a bright pink color palette in her tall centerpieces featuring gorgeous fuschia peonies & garden roses, berry orchids and lime green hydrangeas.
And for all of my brides who are still looking for the perfect scent for their wedding day…my favorite this summer is Pink Chiffon from Bath & Body Works…I was told by Casey & Jennie that I smelled like cotton candy, which in my mind is never a bad thing! I think I will make it our Something 2 Dance 2 signature scent!

Spring Wedding Trends
Posted by Tamara Sims | Filed under Wedding Reception Ideas, Wedding Resources
Spring has finally sprung…and it is about time! Wedding Season in Chicago is right around the corner, so I thought I would share some Spring Wedding Trends to help in your planning.
*Spring Floral Trends Pantone announced their 2011 color pick is Honeysuckle. Jenny Polloway of Elizabeth Wray Design in Geneva, loves this bright red/pink shade for spring, and best of all…there are many spring flowers that come in a honeysuckle hue.
*Outdoor is in! Have your wedding ceremony or reception outdoors and enjoy the beautiful, sunny weather. Add bright colors to the wedding with decor, bridesmaid’s dresses, or hair styles, and make your wedding eye-catching and unique.
*Wedding Gowns Sarah with Elizabeth Wray Design shares some great tips for Spring Wedding Gowns. ”Pay homage to the season by wearing a gown with floral details such as three-dimensional embellishments or subtle appliques. I love these gowns for their layered texture, amazing details, and oh so feminine silhouettes. Let the sweet romance of a blossoming flower be the inspiration for your bridal gown!”
*Wedding Favors Plantable seeds or a blooming plant can be symbolic of the bride & groom’s new journey, and is a great idea for Spring. Or how about your favorite cupcake adorned with a beautiful edible flower. Add a small vase adorned with butterflies or birds to complete your theme.
Happy Spring and Happy Wedding Planning!

Knot.com hosts amazing event at Chicago History Museum
Posted by Tamara Sims | Filed under News and Updates
On Wednesday evening, Jay & I had the opportunity to attend an amazing Wedding networking event at the Chicago History Museum hosted by Knot.com. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers, delicious food, and the top wedding vendors throughout the Chicago area including Elizabeth Wray Design, Melissa Phillips of Simply Perfect by Melissa, Jim Verraros & Bill Brennan of Bridal Expo Chicago, and the marvelous wedding planning team of Jena Warren & Audra Byrne of An Affair to Remember just to name a few.
I had a great conversation with Jim & Bill who had recently returned from New York (my favorite city next to Chicago) where they attended Bridal Market. They were so excited to talk about the beautiful designer wedding gowns they saw go down the runway. I was especially delighted to hear about the new partnership between Vera Wang and David’s Bridal. Gowns will range from $600 to $1,500, with most coming in under $1,200, which will make a designer gown much more affordable for today’s Brides. And of course we had fun talking about Kleinfeld’s Bridal in New York City, made famous by the TLC show “Say Yes to the Dress.”
The highlight of the evening was meeting cofounder and editor in chief of The Knot Inc., Carley Roney. She was so generous with her time and spent the evening speaking with Chicago Wedding Professionals about current trends in our industry.
It truly was a beautiful fall evening in Chicago…and what could be better than sharing ideas with so many wonderful wedding professionals!
