For the past ELEVEN years, Jay Sims has been fortunate to be the sole DJ for all 30 hours, in charge of keeping 500 college students dancing! It is both exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. DM 2007 took place March 2-4 and raised a record $423,000 for CURE: Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy & $47,000 for the Evanston Community Foundation (ECF). |

Now in its 34th year, Northwestern University's Dance Marathon is one
of the world's largest student-run philanthropies, having raised a
combined total of more than $8 million since its founding in 1975. More
than 750 Northwestern University students will dance for 30 hours to raise
funds in March. In 2006, students raised more than $708,000. Dance Marathon (DM) is the largest student-run philanthropic event in the country. From September to March, thousands of students volunteer their time and energy to raise money for charity. These year long efforts culminate in one spectacular weekend where hundreds of students dance for 30 straight hours while thousands of visitors from all across Chicagoland and beyond cheer them on. The event is in the student center, complete with loud music, costumes, lights, and a two-story video screen. DM is the single largest event on the Northwestern University campus.
